Sightsavers is a development organization working in over 33 countries to prevent avoidable blindness and improve the wellbeing of persons with disability.
Sightsavers East, Central and South Africa Regional Office (ECSA) based in Nairobi seeks to fill the position of Grant Accounting Officer.
The position reports to the Regional Finance Manager and will assist in building capacity of country offices in accounting and financial management of EU grants, monitoring compliance to internal as well as EU financial policies and procedures, providing accountancy services and financial management support for multi-country EU grant contracts, provide direct support and advice to Country Office staff and partners on EU grants, preparing EU financial reports and provide support for expenditure verification exercises as required.
The ideal candidate who should be a Kenyan national must possess a university degree in accounting, finance or related field. A recognised level 2 accounting qualification e.g. CPA 2, ACCA is desirable.
A minimum 3 years’ professional experience in the field of finance or grants management is required. Familiarity with European Union grant conditions strongly preferred.
Experience in program development, reporting, budgeting and grant management is required.
S/he should have strong interpersonal, communication, capacity building or facilitation skills, ability to work under minimum supervision, ability to work with project budgets and has an in-depth knowledge of computer financial packages and Global ICT communication systems.
