SHOPS Project Kenya: Operations and Management Manual Development Consultant
Purpose of Assignment: The purpose of the assignment is to come up with an Operational and a Management manual and train key implementers on how to cascade the information in future.
Background: Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) Project is a global five-year USAID-funded project, which aims to expand the role of the private sector, including NGOs and for-profit entities in the sustainable provision and use of high-quality health information, products and services.
SHOPS builds upon decades of USAID support and leadership in private health sector programming, with an emphasis on exploring and advancing private sector innovations.
SHOPS is providing technical support to Equity Group Foundation (EGF) for an integrated healthcare initiative.
This project aims to provide Kenyans with access to high quality, standardized medical care across several tiers of a network of outpatient medical facilities.
The facilities are arranged in a franchise model.
SHOPS is seeking a consultant to develop 2 manuals:
1. Operations Manual that will be used to guide internal processes and result in operational efficiency in all the facilities.
2. Management Manual that will be used by the franchisor to oversee each facility and the entire network, guiding on elements such as selection and retention of franchisees.
The candidates should have experience in developing operations and management guidelines within a healthcare setting for facilities of varying size and scope of services.
She/he should have advanced education in Health Service Management or Business Management and have practised in Healthcare Management for at least 10 years within an organization with a network of medical facilities.
Previous consulting experience will be an advantage.
Timing of Consultancy: The consulting contract is expected to begin from January 2014 and is expected to take 50 days.
