Safaricom Kenya: Head of IT Infrastructure
We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the IT Infrastructure Department within the Information Technology Division. This is a Senior Management position that has four functions reporting to it with a growing team of 30 staff. The functions reporting to this role are; Systems Infrastructure, Network Infrastructure, Systems Security and Service Operations. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT IT INFRASTRUCTURE
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the job holder will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of business support IT infrastructure including the data centers, servers, storage, user workstations, office equipment, local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Internet links and communication systems. They will also be responsible for providing technical support to internal business users.
The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
Ensure that all IT infrastructure and related applications are designed, implemented and managed to meet the business requirements;
Develop, implement and manage Information and Network Security policies, procedures and controls as per the company’s policies as well as global best practice.
Ensure the implementation, monitoring and management of security aspects of IT infrastructure and applications including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and resolutions on all technical systems.
Develop and manage a team as well as implement processes, systems and tools to provide timely and comprehensive support to internal business users on issues relating to IT
Implementation and maintenance of a Data Center to meet Safaricom’s internal needs as well as offer managed services and hosted type services;
Implementation and maintenance of a fully Functional IT Service Operations Centre;
Regularly develop and review infrastructure, application, people and financial plans in line with Divisional and Company objectives;
Ensure Optimization of Capital & Operational Expenditure;
Ensure consistent, quality and comprehensive support from Service Operations team to projects and internal business users on issues relating to IT Service Operations;
Recruit, develop and retain a high performing team with clear objectives and career development plans which are regularly reviewed;
Ensure proper management of the performance cycle and the identification of talent within the department as and when need arises;
Ensure development and analysis of relevant management reports on various key aspects of the departments responsibilities.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
Degree in an ICT related field e.g. Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Technology Management;
A Masters degree in an ICT or Business Administration related field;
At least one certification in an area relevant to this job e.g. ITIL, CCNP, MCSE, CISSP;
Good technical understanding and experience in Software, Hardware, Systems Administration, Network Technology, Service Management, IT Security, Telecommunications Management and Project Management;
12 years experience in IT Services and Network Management ; 4 years of which should be in a Senior Leadership Position;
Good communication and report writing skills;
Strong Project management experience and skills;
Good management and Leadership skills;
Good understanding of business.
Additionally, you must possess a ‘can-do’ attitude with a willingness to grow and change with the company. The ability to multi-task and manage a variety of projects in a pressurized environment is also key.
