In line with this mandate, the Exchange is seeking to recruit an exceptional professional to fill the position of SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
•Care and maintenance of information technology systems,
•Evaluation of user requests for new, modified or updated software application
programmes to determine feasibility and compatibility with current system;
•Design and installation of interactive websites that include database connectivity,
multimedia and searchable content, as well as troubleshooting basic problems.
•Custody of the Company’s data and overseeing operational functions in computer rooms
company-wide;
•Reviewing, testing and evaluating both hardware systems and software programmes
existing to determine their effectiveness, reliability and compatibility;
•Developing and implementing security procedures for installing new software,
considering issues such as employee data access needs and risk of data loss or disclosure.
•Monitoring, diagnosing and troubleshooting of the computer network backbone which
includes network switching systems and servers, organizational data and information,
telephone communication systems and intelligent terminal equipment;
•Investigating and resolving computer hardware and software problems reported by users
to determine whether problem is caused by hardware such as modem, printer, cables,
telephone line or software problem such as virus attacks;
•Administering the ATS system – System start-up, shutdown and monitoring the system
during real time trading;
•Coordinating the ATS training and certification programme as well as responding to
technical queries on the ATS system
Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) Job Qualifications and skills
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or equivalent with professional qualifications that enhance knowledge in information security such as a CISM or CISA certification or currently pursuing the same.
•Minimum four (4) years experience in Oracle Database Administration, Solaris Systems Administration, Windows 2003 and MS Exchange 2003.
•Advanced and broad IT Knowledge in data and systems security, operating systems, network design and security as well as system auditing.
•Proficiency in systems analysis and design, programming, installation and customisation of computer hardware systems including integrated software programmes.
•Ability to resolve basic hardware/software installation and make adjustments to equipment and retrieve information from databases.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and to ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters.
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to develop, implement and deliver effective training programmes.
•Ability to identify user needs, information data sources and types including application requirements.
•Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of ICT developments through continuous professional development.
