Impact Research and Development Organization is a registered Kenyan Non-Governmental Organization with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Busia, West Pokot, Uasin Gishu, Siaya and Turkana Counties of Kenya.
Its principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities.
We are looking for qualified and experienced Senior Data Analystto support the needs of our growing research activities.

Job Summary: The holder of this position will play a strategic role by providing expert statistical support to IRDO research and programs teams.

The ideal candidate should be able to write data querying codes to identify errors and logical inconsistencies, missing and implausible values.
He/she should apply appropriate and well thought-out statistical methods to analyze data, to address specified research questions.
S/he should be able to prepare and present comprehensive and clear data analyses reports that concisely documents all the analyses performed, and succinctly interpret and communicate results of the data analysis.
Finally the ideal candidate should provide expert statistical support to the investigators in preparing conference presentations and manuscripts for publication, particularly drafting statistical analysis sections for manuscripts.
The right candidate should have proven experience in a fast-paced work environment, possess expertise in statistical analysis techniques, and a passion for data manipulation.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise data management throughout all the phases of research studies.
  • Provide training and support to the data team on data collection activities in the field, up to archiving of data sets.
  • Liaise with researchers, data managers and programmers to ensure data quality by carrying out data validation including discrepancy/inconsistency checks and cleaning and report generation of records from the databases.
  • Schedule and prepare analysis reports for PIs needs and provide technical support in the production of summary tables and graphics for interim and final analyses. This includes interpreting, presenting and discussing results with PIs, colleagues and collaborators in various studies.
  • Establish systems for routine analytic reports for on-going projects
  • Generate technical reports to support IRDO and donor requirements.
  • Serve as a central source for research and program data and all requests for information
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors from time to time.
Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology or applied mathematics.
  • Minimum five years of professional experience conducting analysis of data arising from observational studies (cross-sectional, cohort, case-control) including longitudinal studies, randomized trials, quasi-experimental studies.
  • Proficiency in data management and excellent hands-on experience with major data analysis software packages (Access, SPSS, SAS, STATA, CS Pro, etc).
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis, data management procedures and reports generation
  • Experience filtering and organizing large volumes of data prior to analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively conduct and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate a strong background in technical writing.
  • Ability to convey complex issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Good understanding of public health issues particularly HIV/AIDS
  • Experience of leadership and supervision in a similar role
