ICPAK Kenya: Assistant Internal Auditor

ICPAK is a statutory body established under the Accountants Act, 2008 for the regulation of the profession of accountancy in Kenya. The Institute has achieved recognition as a professional body for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards.

ICPAK serves as the umbrella body that oversees the activities of qualified and registered Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). ICPAK also acts as the profession”s mouthpiece in Kenya and in this respect holds membership in international accountancy organization.

Position of Assistant Internal Auditor – 2 Positions

Job Purpose

To plan and execute audit engagements in accordance with accepted standards

as well as report the engagement observations within a reasonable time and to

make recommendations for correcting the unsatisfactory conditions, making

regular follow ups on agreed actions and ensuring that they are closed within the

agreed timelines.

Authority and Responsibility

Under the general guidance of a senior auditor among other responsibilities:

_ Prepares the audit plan

_ Determines the engagement procedures to be used.

_ Identifies the key control points of the system

_ Evaluates systems effectiveness through the application of knowledge of

business systems.

_ Performs the engagements in a professional manner and in accordance

with the approved engagement audit plan.

_ Appraises the adequacy of the corrective actions taken to improve

deficient conditions.

Required Experience and Qualifications

_ Bachelors Degree in a Business related field – Mandatory

_ CPA, ACII and / or ACCA certification(at least one) – Mandatory

_ Certifications of CISA and / or CIA (at least one) – Mandatory

_ At least three years audit experience preferably in the insurance industry
